Biloela House, Biloela - QLD

April 2001
Client: Quilter
A practical yet interesting brand new home for a young professional couple in central Queensland that takes maximum advantage of the site’s aspect, terrain, and magnificent views. Cadway’s design philosophy was to utilise materials in an unconventional matter to create a contemporary interpretation of the outback Queensland home. Gently rest on the site, preserving it’s natural beauty, allowing the structure to mimic the slope of the land, orientated to capture the impressive views within the living areas. Very hot summer days combined with frosty winter’s night demands passive energy efficient strategies, collecting natural light and breezes, excluding the summer sun and inviting in the warming winter sunlight.
An impressive result ensued which delighted the client and resulted in capturing a BDAQ award for ‘Most Innovative use of Steel’.
